Approved of 2009 Legislative Package as follows:
a. Allow members to buyback their probation time. Member will pay 100% of the cost.
b. Provide a 100% cost-of-living adjustment to all members who retired between October 1, 1997 and September 30, 1999, with an 8% cap, then back to 75% of CPI.
c. Extend the 4-year DROP to 5 years.
d. Increase benefit for Marriage After Retirement widows married 0-5 yrs from $2,500 to $15,000.
e. For Marriages After Retirement widows, the minimum age to begin receiving an annuity is 55 yrs of age. No COLAs will be included.
f. Remove the requirement for disability retirees to provide a copy of their tax return once they become 65 years of age.
g. Allow Police/Fire Chiefs to “opt-out” of Pension Fund.
h. Amend Family Code reference in Section 6.06.
i. Correct Section 5.03 (a-1)(4) from subsection (e) to (d).
j. Estates will be entitled to 13th and 14th Checks.
k. Change the surviving spouse/dependent children benefit from 50%/50% to 75%/25%.
